Happy Birthday to Shezada Husain Bhaisaheb Burhanuddin DM. Shezada Husain BS Burhanuddin DM was born on 24th December 1977 (Saturday) in Karachi. He is the youngest son of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS and is widely respected as a distinguished reciter of the Holy Quran (Qāri). He is an honorary member of the Naqabat Qurra’ al-Quran (Guild of Quran Reciters) in Cairo and serves as the head of Mahad al-Zahra, the Department of Quranic Studies at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah. He completed his primary education at MSB Educational Institute in Mumbai and later graduated from Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah in 1998, earning the title of Al-Faqih al-Jayyid, comparable to a Master’s degree in Islamic and Arabic Studies. After memorising the Holy Quran in 1995, he frequently travelled to Cairo to master the art of Quranic recitation and the sciences of Qira’at. His complete Quran recitation recordings are certified by Al-Azhar University, Cairo. Shahzada Husain DM has played a vital role in the growth and development of Mahad al-Zahra and has been instrumental in fulfilling the vision of his revered grandfather, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, to guide the Dawoodi Bohra community toward enlightenment through Quranic values. His ultimate objective is the practical application of Quranic teachings for the benefit of the community, society, and the world at large. Among his responsibilities, he conducts final oral examinations for Huffaz trained under Mahad al-Zahra and actively encourages Quran memorisation and correct recitation during his visits across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, East Africa, Europe, and the USA. Since 2012, Shahzada Husain DM has regularly recited 30-minute Quran recitations prior to sermons delivered by Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
